Apply for an Award
If you want to make a difference in your local community and are looking for extra support, then why not apply for a Chelmsford Grand Award of £1000?
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from charities, social enterprises or local community groups which:
- Benefit residents in Chelmsford Borough
- Encourage people to become more actively involved in local groups and projects
- Improve quality of life and sense of community
- Show initiative and resolve to address a local issue
- Can deliver the project within six months of the award being made
If there are too many applications, priority will be given to groups which show evidence of community need, have not been funded by Chelmsford Borough Council before, and target under-represented groups (e.g. disabled people, ethnic minorities, areas of social and economic deprivation, rural areas etc.)
What could your group do with £1000?
You can apply for £1000 to spend on:
- Capital items e.g. furniture, equipment, tools, computers, resources for activities
- Costs of putting on a local event, trips or activities
- Skills training for volunteers, staff or the community
- Local activities which bring communities together and encourage community involvement, e.g. intergenerational activities.
N.B. Match funding is not required. However, if the project costs more than £1000 you will need to show how you will meet the rest of the cost.
Thinking of setting up a group? Don’t have a constitution or bank account?
