Young Adventurers

Chelmsford Mencap Young Adventuers
At Easter 2012 Chelmsford Mencap will be introducing a new tier to its existing Adult Adventurers Club.
Young Adventurers will be open to 18-25 year olds during the school holidays. The club will provide its members with the opportunity to take part in activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, parachuting, discos and weekend breaks away.
What will the award be spent on?
The Adult Adventurers Club is a very successful element of Chelmsford Mencap's work and its activities are regularly oversubscribed; demonstrating a need for a further group. The £1,000 will be spent on the Easter activities programme for the newly formed Young Adventurers group.
Who are we?
Chelmsford Mencap was established in 1951 and gives lifelong support to children and adults with learning disabilities in and around Chelmsford. Our members, who are of all ages, have a range of disabilities such as autism and Downs syndrome, cerebal palsy, epilepsy, sensory impairment, speech and language difficulties and many more.
Fun loving and energetic volunteers required, aged 18 years and over, to help run our programme of adult events that operate during the school holidays. An empathy for people with learning disabilities is a must but most of all you'll need a good sense of humour and be a good all rounder to join our happy band of volunteers. Many other positions within the charity are available during the daytime and evenings, with occasional weekend fundraising.
